Apprentices in Africa successfully complete their training
HAGER has been supporting this initiative since 2016
The aim of this commitment is to help combat growing inequality. One approach is to support the poorest! This is why HAGER Executive Consulting joined the Oxfam initiative “Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs” back in 2016. The initiative supports women and men in poor countries in building up an economic existence through their own efforts. The aim is to overcome poverty and create a better future for those affected, their families and the people around them.
With the money that people earn in this way, they can feed their families, send their children to school, pay for medicine and medical care. Such small businesses often also create new jobs so that even more people can seize the opportunity for a better future.
“Even in economically difficult corona times, it is important for us to maintain our commitment. Because life beyond corona goes on. We have to look to the future. And with ‘Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs’, we are making our contribution to sustainable local development,” explains Ralf Hager, founder and Managing Director of HAGER Executive Consulting
Young people in Benin have successfully completed their training
Another Oxfam co-project supported by this contribution has already come to an end this summer: The “Project to strengthen the social and professional independence of particularly vulnerable young people in urban areas of Benin” has set itself the goal of putting 75 young people from one of the very poorest countries in the world through vocational training. In doing so, it has created economic prospects for young people in Benin, West Africa, so that they can support themselves and their families.
The theory and practical exams for hairdressing, tailoring, printing and welding took place in the first week of June, two months late due to coronavirus.
All 83 project participants passed their exams. This means that the original target of 75 successful graduates was exceeded.
“We are a company that trains apprentices ourselves, which is why we are delighted to be able to give young people in a structurally weak region career prospects with our donation,” says Ralf Hager.
